Chili & corn bread

The pita pizzas, or pizzeti as Dad calls them, are our favorite after church meal. I can have them ready in less than 10 minutes, a key when you have a hungry family. Now that we have afternoon church the pizzeti are dinner instead of lunch.

Chocolate birthday cake shaped like a fire engine thanks to the Duplo fire truck parts. It isn't anyone's birthday, but I have been getting requests for a fire truck birthday cake for weeks so I finally gave in.
Roasting chestnuts
Each fall I try to remember how long it takes to roast the chestnuts. It always takes longer than I anticipate. Last night we roasted them at 300 degrees for 2 ½ hours. The small ones were perfect, the bigger ones needed a little more time to reach their golden brown goodness. Next time, 3 hours.
